Measuring Leg Length for a Child: Here's How

The leg length is the most important measurement when determining the appropriate balance bike or bicycle size for your child. Here is a guide:

The leg length is often referred to as inseam or inner leg length. It must be in proportion to the saddle height for your child to sit optimally on a balance bike or bicycle. Measuring Leg Length in Three Steps


How can you measure your child's leg length? It's simple: 
  •  Have your child stand with their back against a wall, wearing shoes. 
  • Place a book between their legs, with the horizontal top edge snug against their crotch. 
  • Using a measuring tape or ruler, measure the distance from the top edge of the book to the floor.
The measured value in centimeters is the leg length, also known as inseam. With this measurement, you can now determine the appropriate size for your child's balance bike or bicycle on our website.
